Meet the Editor,

 

I am a work at home mom of two wonderful boys Branden (3) and Evan (1). I am honored and grateful to have the opportunity to help the women who have experienced ICP / OC in their lives. I thank the founder of the itchymoms.com website Melanie for her hard work and dedication throughout the years with the website. I will be updating the website with information and hope to have it complete by early 2008.

 

My ICP story began with my first pregnancy in 2003 to my son Jorden. I was diagnosed at 36 weeks, however I was not prescribed medication (Urso). I was to be induced at 38 weeks, but lost my precious son to ICP two days before induction. The heart breaking and shocking emotional experience was one I wish to never have again. I received much needed support & comfort from Rachael & Christine that I met on Itchy Moms Support group. I am forever grateful to them both! They also lost their precious daughters to ICP / OC.

 

My prayers were answered with my second pregnancy in 2004. My doctors were Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists that were excellent. My son Branden was born at 35 weeks and 5 days, due to my (ICP) serum bile acid levels increasing, even though I was on a high dose of Ursodiol. The joy of having my sweet son home with our family is one of the best memories I hold dear in my heart. My surprise baby was Evan and I did have ICP with him too. I thank God everyday for each of my three sons. I always wanted to help out with ICP / OC and I am very blessed to finally be able to!

If you are itching and think you may have ICP, please request a Serum Bile Acid test in addition to a Liver Function Test.
